Ballads were songs that told about happenings in the community and across the country. Sometimes they told of broken love affairs, murders, cruel wars, death and departures.  This was the means of communication as there were very few newspapers and certainly no radios or televisions.
These old ballads were handed down from one generation to the next, which probably accounts for different versions of some songs we hear today.
The Human Voice is the most versatile instrument known.  It
has the flexibility and the range to imitate almost anything else.
You can listen to Wilma singing a ballad with her voice.
Please let the wave file load completely before playing. It is quite large.
