The Hammered Dulcimer is a Biblical instrument.  King Nebuchadnezzar's
musicians played the dulcimer at the dedication of the golden image he had
made.  Everyone was to fall down and worship the golden image at the sound
of the dulcimers and other instruments.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego
would not fall down and worship the image and were cast into the furnace
of fire.  (Daniel Chapter 3).  The Hammered Dulcimer is no relation to the
Mountain Dulcimer.  It is a large instrument with a sounding board with
strings stretched across it in courses of from two to four strings.  Each
course is tuned in the same note.  It can be played several different ways at
the discretion of the musician, but usually with small wooden hammers which
vibrate the strings producing the sound.  The strings can also be picked or
plucked instead of using the hammers to produce a bell sound.  Please
wait until the wave file loads completely before playing.  It is a large file.
